NEGAZIONE

Bruciare la bandiera di uno stato significa bruciare uno stato, significa voler negare totalmente una cultura, il simbolo del senso dell’unità nazionale che va in cenere

È un gesto di una gravità simbolica incontestabile, che si potrebbe definire ultimativa: chi brucia una bandiera nazionale "brucia" un popolo.

E bruciare il denaro, simbolo non di una nazione ma di un sistema economico “malato”, “deviato” cosa mi rappresenta?, cosi come bruciare una bandiera è un atto vile e anarchico, Peter Hide al contrario, bruciando i soldi attua una ribellione coraggiosa mettendo in discussione tutto il sistema capitalistico contemporaneo. Questi lavori, perdendo la scanzonata irriverenza tipica dell’artista, perdendo l’aspetto ludico e giocoso, caricano ancor più la serietà del tema rappresentato. La situazione è drammatica, bisogna cambiare le persone, bisogna cambiare la mentalità dominante della società capitalistica ed arrivistica del mondo contemporaneo. Bisogno passare ad amare sempre più le persone e sempre meno il denaro.

Amo i soldi non per il potere/ricchezza che da esso ne deriva, ma per la tranquillità interiore che da esso scaturisce in una società attuale dove i valori autentici sono totalmente rovesciati.

Burning a flag of a State means burning the state itself, totally deny a culture, and the symbol of the national unity burnt to ashes. It is an indisputably serious matter on a symbolic point of view. This could be defined as ultimate: those who burn a national flag, burn their people. And what does burning the money as the symbol not of a nation but rather of a sick, deranged economical system represent?

If burning a flag is a vile and anarchic act, Peter Hide, on the contrary, by burning the money carries out a brave rebellion and challenges the contemporary capitalistic system.

These works, by losing the easy going irreverence that is typical of the artist, and losing the recreational and playful features, represent the theme even more seriously.

The situation is dramatic, people need changing, contemporary word dominant mentality of the capitalistic society needs changing as well. It is necessary to love people better and better, and the money less and less..

I love money not because of the power/wealth coming from it, but rather because of the serenity inside that comes from it in a current society where the real values are completely reversed.
